CHICAGO -- Michigan took center stage tonight, with U.S. Senator Gary Peters gave a ringing endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for President.

Back in July, there were reports that Senator Peters was a dark horse candidate to be Harris' pick for Vice President, largely for his strong Union support.

“Let's have another hand for our brothers and sisters from Teamsters and all of our brothers and sisters from unions across America who are rebuilding it, brick by brick," stated Peters.

Senator Peters invited members of his Teamsters Union on the stage at the Democratic National Convention, with Unions being a big focal point of day two at the DNC, as Kamala Harris laid out her economic policy that emphasizes the rebuilding of the middle class.

Michigan Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist stating that Union jobs, can be a key strategy to provide opportunities and better pay for working people.

“Unions have been a strong part of building the middle class and we want to secure and expand it and make sure that’s available to people all across our state. and have Michigan be a model. Were the first state to repeal so-called right to work for less laws in 70 years across the country. We’ve expanded public sector bargaining rights that gives so many people access to a middle-class American dream by working in the public sector particularly people of color and we’re gonna continue to fight for that every day in Michigan," stated Gilchrist.
