ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart Environmental Center hosted a Foraging Workshop Sunday with Forager Enthusiast Tim Frost as a guest speaker.
At the workshop, attendees got to learn about the ethics of foraging edible or medicinal plants and the way plants can be used for health and diet.
ABC57 spoke to Frost who shared some words of wisdom for those looking to join the hobby.
"Get curious. Curiosity is a big thing, because there's always something you learn, as I said before, but also you don't have to be an expert to get started. Just get out, take a walk, take some pictures and try to figure out what you found," says Tim Frost, a Hoosier Forager. "You don't have to be a mycology expert. You don't have to be a botanist to learn edible medicinal plants. All you have to do is be curious."
After the presentation, the whole group took a one-hour hike around the Elkhart Environmental Center grounds and forest to forage the plants and mushrooms there.
