Frosty days ahead
With lows starting to drop into the mid 30s, we are in frost mode for Michiana, now again 36 seems to be the magic number for frost formation, so I’m going to guess today stepping out the door this morning you are more likely not to see frost, unless you are in LaGrange County or St. Joseph County, Michigan. Frost is definitely on its way though, by the end of the week we will likely be dropping into the low 30s making even a freeze possible. Now this is around normal for when Michiana could see frost, a little bit earlier than last year, and a little later than normal but likely you see your first frost in October, sometimes even September. Plants and vegetation that are sensitive to cold will need to be put inside or covered this week as cold air punches into Michiana. I got the chance to talk to Rebecca Miller of Miller Goats and Gardens to see how their produce is fairing in the frosty conditions.
