SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Riley High School freshman Nyisha Gindelberger has become her school's first female wrestler to ever qualify for state finals.
Nyisha and her team will be heading to Kokomo on Friday to begin competing for the state wrestling title.
The high school held a rally on Thursday to announce and celebrate Nyisha’s accomplishment to the entire school.
The team’s coach commended Nyisha’s talents and focus today as well.
"When we talk about Nyisha, she's a very intelligent wrestler. She doesn't make a whole lot of mistakes. She allows her opponents to make those mistakes and she takes advantage of that," said Bill Flatt, Head Wrestling Coach at Riley High School.
Weigh-ins for the state title will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday with matches beginning at 12 p.m.
