Fellowship Mission host “Conversations on a Bench,” providing resources for those in need

WARSAW, Ind. -- A Warsaw recovery center is collaborating with City Gate Network alongside 15 other rescue missions nationwide to address homelessness, addiction, and mental health.

City Gate Network is an organization that has over 300 rescue missions across the U.S. and is one of the largest providers for the homeless.

Fellowship Missions is hosting a 24-hour live stream called “Conversations on a Bench,” where community members can join experts and ask questions or share concerns about the resources available to the most vulnerable residents.

Eric Lane, Executive Director of Fellowship Missions, shares that this event will help them learn the problems people struggle with and then provide them with the right resources they need to thrive in society.

“Really, the conversation on a bench is just that. It’s for individuals to come in sit down and ask questions about what we do, whether it’s just about just right here in Warsaw or nationally about homelessness, addiction, or mental health,” said Lane.

Fellowship Missions is the only rescue mission in Indiana to participate in this initiative, but it could still benefit the rest of Michiana.

Public officials, volunteers, community leaders, current and past residents will spearhead these “Conversations on the Bench” to provide the community with the answers and resources they deserve.

The organizations are working together in hopes to increase this initiative to over 150 rescue missions participating in the 24-hour livestream by October.

“When it comes to serving those who find themselves without a home for and recovering, City Gate is one of the largest in the nation and we want to be able to share what we're doing but also not be scared enough to open up the conversation. I think that’s what’s going to be unique.” said Lane

City Gate has worked with Fellowship Missions for over 14 years hoping to showcase the national effort against these issues and share what’s available to them locally.
