Elkhart Police Department receives threats of violence, city says

ABC 57

ELKHART, Ind. -- The City of Elkhart posted a statement via social media on Friday asking community members to remain calm after the Elkhart Police Department has received several threats of violence.

This comes less than a week after a string of shootings, including an officer-involved shooting which left a 17-year-old dead.

The city released the following statement:

"There have been multiple threats of violence received by the Elkhart Police Department. Frustration and anger are understandable emotions, but threats of violence are not acceptable. Now more than ever, our community needs calmness, respect, and a commitment to keeping everyone safe."
