Elkhart County Parks hosting 'Biggest Disc Golf Weekend' August 16-18
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- Elkhart County Parks has announced that they will be hosting Elkhart County's Biggest Disc Golf Weekend event, running from August 16 until August 18 at Ox Bow County Park.
The weekend will celebrate a year of fundraising and renovations for one of the earliest disc golf courses in Michiana, built 35 years ago.
The event will begin on Friday, August 16 with a ribbon cutting ceremony, near the Stable Shelter at Ox Bow County Park.
It will celebrate the more than $18,000 raised by disc golf enthusiast and volunteer Jason Samuel, as well as a grant from the Community Foundation of Elkhart County.
The funds will be used to improve baskets, improve tee pads, improve signage, build a 'Putting Green' to practice, and more.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be followed by the Summer Sizzler, a PDGA C-Tier one round competition for those preregistered.
From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the community can go to the nearby Honey Locust Shelter for a larger celebration, featuring live music, food trucks, putting contests, and more.
On Saturday, the Ox Bow Classic will take place, a PDGA C/B two-round singles event beginning at 9 a.m.
On Sunday, there will be the Dog Days Doubles, a PDGA C-Tier doubles event beginning at 2 p.m.
