Downed wire at Gary Metro Center has all SSL trains currently stopped

UPDATE: As of 12:15 p.m., wire damage has been resolved and power restored to Gary Metro Center, and all trains will be on the move momentarily.

Eastbound Train 7 passengers have been bused to their destination stations, and Westbound Train 14 is currently delayed 60+ minutes.

Westbound Train 216 has been annulled, Eastbound Train 107 is currently delayed 20-30 minutes and Westbound Train 116 is delayed 45-60 minutes.

The South Shore is asking that riders be at their station in case the train is earlier than expected.


GARY, Ind. -- According to officials with the South Shore Line, crews continue to assess wire damage at Gary Metro Center after reports of a down wire.

All trains remain stopped; buses are in route to the scene.

The issue was first reported around 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
