SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Penn High School Varsity Baseball team took the win 2-0 against New Prairie Varsity Baseball team Wed. evening, but not before a venue switch from Four Winds Field.
The game was arranged at the home of the South Bend Cubs weeks ago, but after a bus crash that put a JV New Prairie player, Lucas Bradshaw, in the ICU fighting for recovery, the game shifted into a fundraiser for the Bradshaw family.
Right before the first pitch, however, the weather forced organizers to announce a change of venues, moving the game over to Penn High School. For those at the game, it didn’t matter much: the night less about baseball, and much more about showing up for the New Prairie Community.
