Chicago man sentenced in 2023 South Bend murder

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- UPDATE: Keith Hardy was sentenced to 45 years for murder with 403 days of jail credit, plus followed by five years of probation.

ORIGINAL STORY: The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office announced 24-year-old Keith Hardy of Chicago, IL was found guilty of one count of Murder and one count of Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon.

This comes following a shooting that killed 25-year-old Marlon Hudson of Gary, and injured 29-year-old Deijine Shelton of South Bend, in April 2023.

According to the investigation, Hudson and Shelton were in an argument with two people across the street from the victim's house.

Hardy was later identified as being one of the people involved in the argument.

Hardy faces 45 to 65 years for Murder and one to six years for Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon.

Hardy will be sentenced on June 28, 2024.
