South Bend Common Council meeting cancelled for January 23
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The South Bend Common Council meeting has been cancelled for Monday because the public was not notified of the meeting in time, according to council president Sharon McBride.
The City Clerk must post notice of a Common Council meeting at least 48 hours before the scheduled meeting time, according to McBride.
The posting, which includes an outline of the agenda, must be accessible to the public 48 hours in advance.
According to McBride, notice of the meeting was not made public until after 1 p.m. on Friday.
The physical notice was not posted, as required by law, the council said.
Any bill scheduled to be reviewed at Monday's meeting will be delayed.
This includes Bill. No. 22-61, a resolution calling for reparatory justice.
