'Back to School and Back in Time' event postponed to Aug. 24 due to weather

UPDATE: Due to impending rainstorms, and for the safety of attendees, the event is postponed until Saturday, Aug. 24th from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

All events and activities will remain the same on that date.

ORIGINAL: CASS COUNTY, Ind. -- The Cass County Historical Society is hosting its 'Back to School and Back in Time' event on August 17 in Cass County.

The event will take place from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Red Brick Schoolhouse in Cassopolis, Michigan at 63626 Brick Church Road.

The event will provide visitors with the opportunity to see what school was like in the 19th century in a one-room schoolhouse.

The one-room schoolhouse is one of only two that remain mostly the same in Cass County and it's the only one that includes the furnishings and stylings of the time period.

There had previously been over 100 one-room schoolhouses, but almost all have been demolished or were transitioned for other uses.

The event is free and open to the public.
