SAINT JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. --On ABC57's Summer's Spotlight; Summer Horan, talks with Jake Brown, about Dyngus Day Celebration with Visit South Bend Mishawaka, and how to get involved.
Rooted in Polish history, and following Easter Sunday, this Holiday dates back to the pre-Christianization of Poland, where it was believed to be a Holiday to celebrate courtship and fertility.
People would shower and clean up, and painted eggs would be shared for the Easter Holiday, which was apparently the perfect time to try and find a mate.
In the years since then, many of those first traditions have become a day to celebrate the end of the Lent Polish Style together.
