72-year-old injured in two-vehicle crash in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- The Cass County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 12 near Anderson Road in Milton Township on Friday, August 9, around 12:50 p.m.

Authorities' investigation showed a vehicle, driven by 72-year-old Leona Ledell of Chicago, was traveling west on U.S. 12 when she rear-ended another vehicle, driven by 29-year-old Autumn Nussel of Elkhart, who was stopped and attempting to turn left from U.S. 12.

Nussel and her two passengers, 56-year-old Lisa Klopenstine, of Elkhart, and a juvenile, reported no injuries.

Ledell was taken to Lakeland/Corwell Health Niles Hospital for her injuries.

Authorities do not believe alcohol to be a factor in the crash.

The report states all occupants were wearing a seatbelt at the time of crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
