40-year-old South Bend motorcyclist injured after hitting deer

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- The Cass County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a single motorcycle crash involving a deer around 8:58 p.m., Tuesday, on Calvin Center Road near Mason Street in Cassopolis.

Authorities say the investigation indicates 40-year-old Joshua William Stillwagon, of South Bend, was traveling south on Calvin Center Road when a deer ran out in front of him.

Stillwagon was unable to avoid the deer and crashed, sustaining injuries.

Stillwagon was taken to Elkhart General Hospital.

Stillwagon was wearing a helmet, and authorities don't believe alcohol to be a factor.

The crash remains under investigation.
