Marshall County Sheriff\'s Office

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Marshall County Sheriff's Office reports officers responded to call regarding an "Apple Crash Detection" in the area of U.S. 30 and Queen Road.

The report states dispatch continued receiving information about this, which was said to be a crash on Queen closer to 7th Road.

Authorities say the first responders found the crash on Queen just south of 7th.

Based on the initial investigation, deputies say a 2010 Mercury Milan, driven by Hunter C. Poor, was traveling south on Queen, and after going south of 7th, something happened to destabilize the car.

The report states Poor then drove left of center into the northbound lanes, before running off the east side of the road.

Deputies say that's when Poor collided head-on with a tree, which resulted in extensive vehicle damage and Poor being entrapped.

Authorities say first responders attempted life-saving measures, but Poor was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
