UPDATE TWO: Aaron Williams admitted to investigators that he shot his wife in the head early in the morning on May 24, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Williams is charged with Murder. No future court dates have been announced at this time.

Deputies with the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office responded to 30217 C.R. 18 around 2:50 a.m. after a man called 911 indicating he wanted to kill himself. The report states the call disconnected but he soon called back several times, at one point implying someone was dead.

Upon arrival, authorities found Willams outside the home with his hands out, ready to be handcuffed, before telling law enforcement he shot his wife, Patricia Williams, in the head.

Authorities say they then entered the home to find his wife lying in bed with a gunshot wound to her head. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The Elkhart County Homicide Unit began an investigation into the incident.

At around 5:24 a.m., Williams was interviewed after he'd been read his rights.

Williams told authorities he and his wife hadn't had a good relationship for many years.

Williams said he went to bed alone around 6 p.m. on May 23, and the next thing he remembered was having just shot Patricia lying in bed next to him. He said before shooting her, he knows he awoke, walked to his gun safe, unlocked the gun safe, retrieved handgun, and shot Patricia as she slept.

Williams told investigators after this he unloaded the gun, went outside, and called 911.
