A local taste brings New Carlisle community together on race day

NEW CARLISLE, Ind. -- An Indy 500 watch party was held at the Studebaker Brewing Company Sunday.

The watch party brought members of the community together to enjoy the race, even with the rainy weather.

"I said, let's get out and go watch the race someplace. Sitting home on a rainy day, let's go watch the race," said Debi Seniff, a South Bend resident. "We were debating whether to go or not, but we saw there's isolated showers."

The brewery is known for their craft beer, but also their ties to the Studebaker automotive legacy.

"Well, we have a great brewer that makes wonderful beer, but the Indy special, Steve designs all of our marketing our cans in that. We are, you know, we pay homage to the Studebaker Car Manufacturing Company, and the majority of all our beers are named for Studebaker cars," said Kevin Jakel, co-owner of Studebaker Brewing Company.

"New Carlisle is a wonderful community, lot of great people. And so, if todays like every other day, where the community comes and has a good time, that's really all we're after," said Steve Wehmayer, co-owner of Studebaker Brewing Company.
