Two-vehicle crash on Lewis Street intersection

ELKART, Ind. -- At approximately 11:02 a.m., on Dec. 6, the Elkhart police reported to a two- vehicle crash.  

A Ford Fusion, driven by Justin T. Miller was southeast on US 33 west of Lewis Street intersection. A Toyota Camry, driven by Stephanie Fisher was north on Lewis Street on the left-turn lane south of the US 33 intersection. 

Miller continued southeast on US 33 at the intersection of Lewis Street, disregarding the lighted signal and failed to yield Fisher's right of way at the intersection.

Before impact, Fisher attempted avoidance maneuver, but Miller impacted the Toyota Camry's front end with the Ford Fusion's front end. the Ford Fusion and Toyota Camry both sustained heavy front-end damages.

Miller was cited for disregarding an official traffic control device and failure to yield at sign involving collision.

Miller and Fisher had complaints of chest pain and were both transported to the Elkhart General Hospital by on-scene medics.
