Two-vehicle crash leads to car hitting tree, driver cited

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash around 2:22 p.m., Thursday, at the intersection of C.R. 4 and C.R. 15.

The report states a 2002 Jeep Liberty, driven by 35-year-old Tabitha Moses of Cassopolis, Mich., was travelling south on C.R. 4 toward the intersection of C.R. 15.

Deputies described the intersection as "a clearly marked four-way stop in each direction."

Authorities say Moses disregarded the stop sign and continued into the intersection. Moses had one passenger with her.

The report says a second vehicle, a 2020 Lincoln Aviator driven by 73-year-old James Pearson of Culliman, Ala., had stopped at the intersection facing west.

Pearson told deputies he didn't see Moses approaching from the north and drove into the intersection heading west.

The front-end of the Pearson's Aviator then struck the middle driver's side of Moses' Jeep.

Moses then spun off the roadway and hit a tree before coming to a stop.

Pearson had two passengers and no injuries were reported by them.

Moses had complaints of pain all over and was cited was cited for not wearing her seatbelt and disregarding a stop sign.

There were no reported injuries for Moses' passenger.
