Two children injured and driver cited following two-vehicle crash
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to C.R. 17 and Hanover Drive around 3:41 p.m., Monday, for a two-vehicle crash.
The report states a 2006 GMC Sierra, driven by 66-year-old David Ratcliff of Goshen, was traveling north on C.R. 17 south of Hanover Drive.
A 2012 Jeep Renegade, driven by a 19-year-old Bristol man, was also traveling north on C.R. 17 south of Hanover Drive and was stopped in traffic waiting to turn left onto Hanover Drive.
Deputies say Ratcliff was following the Jeep too closely and was unable to stop in time, striking the Jeep's rear.
Ratcliff's GMC suffered heavy front-end damage along with the Jeep's rear-end.
Ratcliff had two passengers with him at the time of the crash, both children.
The 11-year-old boy complained of head pain while the 8-year-old boy complained of hip pain.
Both boys were treated on scene by EMS personnel and released.
Neither driver was injured.
Ratcliff was cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Financial Responsibility.
