A pedestrian is dead after being struck by train in Mishawaka Thursday afternoon

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Authorities have confirmed to ABC57 that a male has died after being hit by a train in Mishawaka Thursday afternoon. 

The call came in around 1:37 p.m. on July 10 and officers responded to the Beiger Street railroad crossing, near the 4th Street intersection in Mishawaka. 

It is being reported that two people were by the tracks when the train came through and one was struck. 

As of 2:25 p.m., the scene is still active and people are being asked to avoid the area.
