Two arrested after drugs, catalytic converters found in vehicle

EKLHART, Ind. – Two people were arrested on Monday after officers found drugs and catalytic converters in a vehicle during a traffic stop, the Elkhart Police Department reported.

At 3:20 a.m., an officer responded to a gas station in the 900 block of N. Nappanee Street for a report of a suspicious vehicle.

The officer saw the vehicle leave the parking lot of the gas station and proceeded to pull the vehicle over. Two men were inside.

While searching the vehicle, officers found two catalytic converters, marijuana, pills, cocaine, and paraphernalia, according to reports.

Officers learned that one of the catalytic converters appeared to have been recently cut from a vehicle parked at an auto shop behind the gas station, reports said.

Daniel Adkins, 41, of Elkhart, was arrested on the following charges:

  • Unlawful possession of a syringe
  • Possession of cocaine
  • Possession of paraphernalia
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Theft

Robert Baldwin, 53, of Goshen, was arrested on the following charges:

  • Possession of controlled substance
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Theft of motor vehicle part
