Truck pulling trailer causes crash that injures multiple people in horse-drawn buggy

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- A crash involving two vehicles collided with a horse-drawn buggy in Marshall County on Friday evening, and authorities say all occupants of the buggy were taken to Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Office says reports of the crash came in at around 5:54 p.m. on Friday, May 6. When authorities arrived on scene, they found a 2024 Chevy Silverado pulling a trailer, a 2013 Volvo XC70, and a horse-drawn buggy had collided at the intersection of U.S. 6 and Dogwood Road.
An initial investigation determined that the Chevy was stopped on the south side of U.S. 6, when the driver, identified as 41-year-old Brian Blake, of South Bend, entered the intersection and failed to yield to the west bound Volvo.
"The collision caused the Chevy to run into a stopped horse-drawn buggy," the MCSO said. "All the occupants of the buggy were transported to Memorial Hospital to be evaluated. The other two drivers were checked out on scene by EMS, but denied treatment."
The condition of the horse(s) is unknown at this time.
