Three-vehicle crash sends two to hospital in Elkhart County
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a three-vehicle crash near C.R. 5 and Treva Street on Monday around 6:04 p.m.
The report states a Ford pickup, driven by 59-year-old Gregory Yeager of Elkhart, was traveling north on C.R. 5 and turned west onto Treva Street without yielding to the right of way.
A 1997 Ford four-door passenger car, driven by 67-year-old Randy Stevenson of Cassopolis, Mich., was traveling south on C.R. 5 and was struck by Yeager when he failed to yield to the right of way.
A 2007 BMW four-door passenger car, driven by 24-year-old Axel Esau Zepeda De Vicente of Elkhart, was at the stop sign at Treva Street and C.R. 5 when Yeager also struck his front end.
Stevenson and his passenger, identified as 67-year-old Karla Watts, were taken to Elkhart General Hospital for complaints of face and chest pain.
Authorities say alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
All involved parties were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
No citations were given, according to the report.
