Three Injured in two vehicle crash in Elkhart
ELKHART, Ind. -- A total of three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Elkhart on C.R. 36, east of Brinkley Way on Saturday around 1:52 p.m.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, a 2022 Mercedes-Benz Metris, driven by 38-year-old woman from Southgate, Mich., was stopped on the shoulder of the road, east of Brinkley Way West.
Deputies say a 1999 Lincoln Continental, driven by a 44-year-old man from Elkhart, was traveling at unsafe speeds and failed to stop or safely pass the first vehicle, striking it from behind.
The driver of the first vehicle was taken to Goshen Hospital and arrested for OWI, possession of paraphernalia and unlawful possession of hypodermic needle.
The driver of the second vehicle and their passenger were also taken to the Goshen Hospital for their injuries.
The driver and passenger of the first vehicle are being held at the Elkhart County Jail.
