The Michiana Area Council of Governments created drafts available for public comment

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG) has created a draft State Fiscal Year 2026-2030 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS), that is available for public comment and review from March 5 until April 4.
The draft for Tip will include a five-year program of federally funded road, bike, transit, and pedestrian projects for Kosciusko, Elkhart, Marshall, and Saint Joseph Counties in Indiana.
TIP also includes $181 millions in funding for track projects from design to construction and local transportation projects that are in MACOG's region.
MACOG has developed CEDS to identify the region's assets and challenges, to establish a vision and goals, and to outline objectives that will achieve these regional goals.
A review and comment period from the public is available from March 5 until April 4, with documents from both of these plans available to view at area public libraries, and at MACOG website.
MACOG will also hold two open houses, with the first taking place March 24 from 3 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. in Elkhart at the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce.
The second open house will be in South Bend with the Indiana Department of Transportation on April 2 from 3:30 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. at the Saint Joseph County Public Library.
