Section of I-94 in Berrien County to close Monday night for crash cleanup

Lincoln Charter Township Firefighters

BERRIEN COUNTY, Ind. -- Lincoln Charter Township Firefighters announced on Monday afternoon that they will have to shut down a section of highway tonight to clear up a morning crash.

Officials say I-94 at the eastbound exit ramp for Exit 23 will be closed starting around 11 p.m. on July 14 due to an accident from this morning.

The incident happened around 5:58 a.m. and involved a single-vehicle being driven by a 40-year-old man from Chicago.

The driver sustained a small cut to his arm but refused medical attention at the scene.

"The driver stated he swerved to avoid a construction barrel in the roadway, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle," authorities said.

"The tow company decided to leave the vehicle where it was, due to I-94 morning traffic. They will be removing the vehicle tonight."
