'Winning smiles' program providing free mouthguards to local schools, athletes

Delta Dental

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, local middle and high school sports programs can apply to receive up to 100 free mouthguards per sport.

Delta Dental, which operates in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio, is bringing back its Winning Smiles program that will hand out up to 20,000 athletic mouthguards.

"Athletic directors, coaches and school administrators can request free mouthguards by completing an online order form," a company spokesperson said.

"Mouthguards will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. There is no cost or obligation, and all orders will be shipped directly to schools or facilities free of charge."

Entries must be submitted by an official school representative such as coaches, athletic directors and administrators, and each school may submit one entry per sport.

Each school can enter once per sport, meaning, for example, football is a single sport and can include freshman, JV, and varsity teams, but separate order forms are required for each sport.

"Entries will be reviewed for completeness and eligibility," a spokesperson said.

"Duplicate entries from the same team will be disqualified. Organizers reserve the right to modify or cancel the giveaway at any time. By entering, participants agree to abide by the rules and decisions of the organizers."

Delta Dental says the mouthguards they are giving out offer twice the impact absorption of traditional mouthguards and is accepted by the American Dental Association.
