ABC 57

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash around 12:25 p.m., Monday, on S.R. 15 near C.R. 50.

The report states a 2008 Honda CRV, driven by a 17-year-old Warsaw woman, was traveling north on S.R. 15 just south of C.R. 50 behind a 2020 Nissan Armada, driven by a 40-year-old Syracuse woman.

At the intersection, the Nissan slowed for southbound traffic and attempted to turn west on C.R. 50.

Deputies say the Honda was following too closely and collided with the Nissan's rear-end.

The Honda sustained heavy front-end damage.

The 17-year-old driver suffered a fractured right leg along with facial injuries and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital.

The Nissan's driver was uninjured while her passenger, a 66-year-old Syracuse woman, suffered neck and back injuries and was also taken to Elkhart General Hospital.

The 17-year-old driver was cited for following too closely and for holding/using a telecommunication device while operating a motor vehicle.
