Starke County Jail donates 97 pounds of vegetables

STARKE COUNTY, Ind. – A total of 97 pounds of onions and zucchini combined was donated to the Community Services of Starke County from the Starke County Jail Monday.

According to county deputies, the inmates at the jail were responsible for growing and maintaining the gardens.

Inmates also harvested 44 pounds of cabbage, 26 pounds of green peppers, 100 pounds of onions, and 100 pounds of radishes.

The food donated to the county’ community service will serve as emergency foods to households experiencing hardship.
