Stark County man arrested on laundry list of drug charges Thursday night

Starke County Jail

STARKE COUNTY, Ind. -- A 64-year-old Knox man is facing a litany of charges after the Starke County Sheriff's Office served a felony warrant in the 3000 South block of U.S. 35 on Thursday night.

The subject of the warrant, Clyde Malecki, was wanted out of Pulaski County and deputies knocked on his door around 10:55 p.m. on Jan. 30.

"Deputies were greeted by [Malecki] at the front door. [He] instantly attempted to shut the door in the deputies' faces as they announced their selves while advising [Malecki] of his felony warrant," the SCSO said.

That's when, authorities say, Malecki refused to exit the residence, while forcibly pulling away from deputies. He was eventually escorted outside.

"[Malecki] made furtive movements near the rear, right side of his body and began to blade himself," the SCSO said. "Deputies engaged [Malecki], placing him into handcuffs. A firearm was removed out of the back-right side of his pants pocket, where [Malecki] was previously reaching."

In military and law enforcement, to blade your body means to place one foot in front of the other in an aggressive stance, similar to a boxing stance.

Malecki has at least one previous violent conviction involving firearms and a search warrant was issued for his residence.

"Officers located approximately 35.76 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 3.61 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl, additional illicit narcotics, narcotic packaging equipment and miscellaneous narcotic paraphernalia equipment," the SCSO said.

Malecki was taken to the Starke County Justice Center and booked on preliminary charges of:

  • Dealing Methamphetamine, Level 2 Felony
  • Possession of Methamphetamine, Level 3 Felony
  • Dealing a Narcotic Drug, Level 3 Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, Level 4 Felony
  • Possession of a Narcotic Drug, Level 5 Felony
  • Possession of a Syringe, Level 6 Felony
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance, Level 6 Felony
