SSL to increase train capacity for Chicago Pride Parade this weekend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- An expected increase in ridership for the Chicago Pride Parade has led the South Shore Line to offer additional capacity and extra passenger trains on Sunday, June 30.

Extra westbound capacity to Millennium Station:

  • Westbound #502 and #504 to Millennium Station - Additional capacity to accommodate passengers heading to Chicago in the morning. These trains will make all regular stops to Chicago.

In the afternoon, eastbound passenger extras will run following the parade and events.

Extra eastbound departures from Millennium Station:

  • The first eastbound extra will depart Millennium Station at 4:55 p.m. and Van Buren Street at 4:58 p.m., then run non-stop to Hegewisch and make all local stops terminating at Carroll Avenue Station.
  • The second eastbound extra will depart Millennium Station at 6:30 p.m. and Van Buren Street at 6:33 p.m., then run non-stop to Hegewisch and make all local stops terminating at Carroll Ave. Station.

SSL officials add eastbound extra trains will not serve Hudson Lake or South Bend.

SSL also reminds the public they reserve the right to remove disorderly passengers.

Disorderly conduct includes, but is not limited to, public indecency/nudity, and drunken or disruptive conduct.

Alcohol is prohibited on all trains on June 30, and glass bottles are prohibited at all times.
