South Bend man convicted in 2024 murder of 16-year-old

St. Joseph County Jail SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A South Bend man will be sentenced in less than a month for killing a high school student.
A jury found Derrick Myles guilty of murdering 16-year-old Alyyus Enoexpettiford in June 2024. Enoexpettiford was a student at South Bend Riley High School.
Officers found his body in a backyard on the 500 block of Victoria Street; he was shot in the head. A warrant was put out for Myles's arrest the following month. He turned himself in to police that August.
The sentencing hearing will be on July 22.
