UPDATE: Elkhart Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that happened around 7:22 p.m. Tuesday evening in the 400 block of State St in Elkhart. 

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). Elkhart Fire Department medics treated the male on scene, and he was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment of potentially life-threaning injuries. 

Officers collected evidence at the scene and there has been no arrests made at this time.
