LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. -- On Feb. 4, 1988, 67-year-old Evelyn Matchett was murdered in her home on Pretty Lake in LaGrange County. Her killer has never been identified.

Matchett was a widow and lived alone, police say.

Despite what authorities describe as an exhaustive investigation by the Indiana State Police and the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office, no suspect was ever identified.

After 36 years, the ISP Cold Case Team says they believe someone out there knows the truth.

ISP is asking for assistance in solving this crime. Police are asking if you remember a conversation or heard something that didn’t feel important at the time but might hold pertinent case information.

ISP is asking for anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward.
