South Bend bakery prepares for crowds of customers for Paczki Day

SOUTH BEND, Ind.— Bakeries across Michiana were hard at work early Tuesday morning in preparation for crowds of customers celebrating Paczki Day by picking up the Polish dessert.

Baker’s Dozen Bake Shop on W. Sample St. opened in the 1980's in what used to be a gas station.

The bake shop’s owner, Chris Rzeszutek, has been at the bakery since Sunday night preparing for Paczki Day.

“I’ve probably slept six hours since then,” Rzeszutek said. “I’ve been working days and nights since then getting the ingredients ready.”
