Marine Corps. recruiter charged with two counts of Child Seduction
LA PORTE, Ind. -- A 27-year-old Marine Corps. recruiter was arrested recently on two counts of Child Seduction and is said to have a "professional relationship" with the child.
Daniel Escobar was a Marine recruiter at La Porte County High School when he allegedly formed a relationship with the 17-year-old victim.
"During the interview victim explained that Daniel is a United States Marine Corps recruiter that they met at [the] school," court documents state.
The two first met on Dec. 19, 2024, when the victim got info on recruitment and taking the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test.
"Victim advised that at some point Daniel invited her to go to the gym with him and other people from the recruitment office. From there, victim and Daniel began having conversations that became more 'intense,' which then led to them planning to have sexual intercourse," court document state.
It is alleged that Escobar and the victim were first sexual on Jan. 4, in the recruitment office. During the night, the two were "interrupted by [the victim's] stepcousin.
The next day, the two returned to the recruiting office and had consensual sexual intercourse.
"Victim advised that they overthink things, to which Escobar provided her his credit card to purchase 'Plan B,'" court documents state. "Victim advised that the credit card didn't work, so she messaged Escobar, who met her at CVS, to provide her with his debit card. Victim explained that she then used Escobar's debit card to purchase the Plan B, along with protein shakes for him and her.
On Jan. 13, police confirmed the purchases with the pharmacy where they were made.
Security footage from the pharmacy allegedly shows the victim inside, and a vehicle that matches the description of Escobar's sitting in the parking lot.
On Jan. 17, authorities located Escobar at Michigan City High School, and after a brief interview that ended with Escobar asking for an attorney, he was arrested and lodged in the La Porte County Jail on two counts of Child Seduction, a Level 5 Felony.
