Smoke free workplace proposal

A group wants South Bend to prevent smoking in the workplace.

The Smoke Free St. Joe Coalition announced Wednesday that they are supporting a new proposal to make all work places in South Bend smoke free.

"We are actually the largest city in the state of Indiana that does not have a clean air ordinance, a comprehensive clean air ordinance. So we are just really looking to make the community healthier, make the community safer for workers," said South Bend City Council member Gavin Ferlic.

The ordinance doesn't include any exemptions for bars, private clubs, or taverns.
