Site Director of Boys & Girls Club of Benton Harbor being investigated for allegedly assaulting student

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. – Thomas Bruce, the Superintendent of St. Joseph Public Schools, confirmed that there is an ongoing investigation into the Site Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Benton Harbor who allegedly assaulted a high school student.

Superintendent Bruce said the incident in question happened on February 20. The Site Director has been let go.

The City of St. Joseph Public Safety Department is investigating the incident. Superintendent Bruce says that the Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton Harbor and St. Joseph High School are cooperating with the Department.

Members of the Boys & Girls Club of Benton Harbor Club will still have access to after school programming at St. Joseph High School.

In a press release, Superintendent Bruce made the following statement:

“The Boys & Girls Club’s zero tolerance policy regarding violence resulted in the immediate termination of the Site Director. The number one priority for both organizations is the protection of the youth we serve.”
