Single-vehicle crash sends three to hospital

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- The Cass County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash on M 62 Highway and Indian Lake Road in Silver Creek Township around 12:31 p.m. on Sunday, July 14.

Authorities' investigation shows a vehicle, driven by 49-year-old Daniel French of Dowagiac, was travelling east on M 62 Highway when a vehicle traveling north on Indian Lake Road failed to yield to the right of way, causing French to avoid a crash and instead strike an embankment.

With French in the vehicle were two passengers, identified as 11-year-old Lucas French and 12-year-old Emily French.

All three occupants were taken to Niles Lakeland Hospital for injuries from the crash.

All three were wearing their seatbelts during the crash and deputies say they don't believe alcohol to be a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
