ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The prosecution in the trial of Nicholas Stanley has rested its case in day three of the high-profile trial.

The day began with testimony from Stanley's ex-wife, Alyssa Anderson.

She testified that, on the night of the shooting, she got a two-word Facebook message from Stanley: "call me." She said that she doesn't remember if he even said hello when she did, but she did hear was him say "I killed him."

Anderson said Stanley told her he shot Allen Cogswell in the chest, collected the shotgun shells, and removed his pants - because they got blood on them.

During cross examination, Stanley's defense attorney Vincent Campiti argued she was coached ahead of the trial since she needed to meet with the prosecution. The prosecution said that this was simply to go over rules set by the court prohibiting certain evidence.
