SBFD responds to garage, house, debris fire between Sunday afternoon, Monday morning

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Fire Department reports crews responded to three fires between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning.

Fire officials say on Sunday, just after 4 p.m., firefighters responded to the 1500 block of Rockne Drive for a garage fire.

The garage was considered a total loss, but firefighters did prevent the fire from spreading to the home.

Monday morning, just before 1:30 a.m., crews responded to the 200 block of South Twyckenham Drive for a house fire.

One resident was able to escape from the home before fire crews arrived.

Fire officials say the fire was under control within an hour.

The home was a total loss. Two firefighters were evaluated at the hospital and released.

Later, on Monday, just after 8:30 a.m., firefighters responded to Northside Boulevard and South 31st Street for a large debris fire behind a home.

The fire did reach an outbuilding and damaged both neighboring homes.

Crews had the fire under control within 30 minutes.

No injuries were reported from any of the fires.
