SAINT JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. -- Troopers from the Michigan State Police Marshall Post are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred on July 28 at approximately 12:09 p.m. on U.S. 12 near Lima Road in White Pigeon Township.

Investigators say a GMC Envoy was traveling east on U.S. 12 when it attempted to pass two vehicles and struck an oncoming GMC box truck head-on.

The driver of the box truck, a 64-year-old Bridgman man, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was wearing his seatbelt.

The driver of the GMC Envoy, a 20-year-old White Pigeon man, was transported to Bronson Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the scene.

Investigators believe drugs and alcohol are contributing factors in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
