Ron Paul backers sue Republican Party

A group of Ron Paul supporters filed suit against the Republican National Committee.

They claim the committee and its chairman improperly helped Mitt Romney during his ongoing campaign.

The lawsuit calls on the court to determine whether delegates at the party's convention in Tampa back in August are free to break from state party rules and vote for the candidate of their choice.

The plaintiffs say those state party rules violate federal law. Ron Paul's campaign confirms it's involved in the lawsuit.

RNC attorneys are calling the lawsuit frivolous.
