NOW: Rideshare and Transpo getting people around town game-day

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Other than the excitement of Friday’s historic Irish vs. Hoosier college football playoff game, how to get around town amid all the buzz is on many people’s minds.

For those wanting to leave their cars at home, there are a few other transportation options to get to and from the game.

Transpo will run ‘The Game Day Express’, giving bus rides for free. Before the game from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., busses will pick riders up at three pickup points: Aloft Hotel, Century Center/ Courtyard Marriott, and DoubleTree Hotel.

Of the three pickup points, there will be free parking available at The Century Center. The busses will drop off riders at Notre Dame McKenna Hall, running every 15 to 20 minutes, then do the route in reverse for two hours after the game.

Another option for getting around town Friday is ridesharing. With the huge crowds, Lyft driver Joshua Tavernier said it’s important to stay patient.

“Be understanding. You’re not going to get anywhere quick, we’re not gonna get to you quick… It's because we have to deal with the traffic, we have to deal with foot traffic and it’s not just for our safety or your safety but everybody’s safety around us,” said Tavernier.
