What is Project 2025 and why does it matter?
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The 2025 Presidential Transition Project, or Project 2025 was organized by conservative think-tank The Heritage Foundation. It outlines four sections created for the next possible conservative president, A 920-page policy agenda, a Presidential Personnel Database, a Presidential Administration Academy and a 180-day playbook.
While former President Donald Trump criticized Project 2025 Saturday, July 20 at a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, calling the plan “extreme” and saying, “I don’t know anything about it, I don’t want to know anything about it,”, democrats still worry it’s what a second term under Donald Trump would look like. Lawyer and member of Michiana Alliance for Democracy, Mike McManus, says Project 2025 does not align with what he thinks America should look like.
“I think as more and more Americans, especially as we get closer to the election, and more and more Americans pay attention and actually just read even portions of this 900 page document, they’re going to understand that this is not the America that we believe in now, it’s not the America that our Founding Fathers gave us, and it’s certainly not the America we want to leave our children,” expressed McManus.
Others, like the director of Project 2025 for The Heritage Foundation, Paul Dans, describe the project as a blueprint plan for the Conservative Party. In an interview with Four Corners, an Australian media outlet, Dans explained this project should go in place so, “The right policies are at the fingertips of the next president,”.
“Conservatives typically have been focused on God, country and family and we’ve kind of left government to the side. We believe in limited government, particularly the federal government and this is really an attempt by us as a movement to come together and get ready. It’s preparation,” said Dans.
