Pioneer Days in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- Folks across Michiana took a step back into time June 16th.

The Center for History held their annual Pioneer Days event over the weekend.

What makes Pioneer Days so exciting is that they hold the event right next to the oldest structure in South Bend.

It's one of the first houses in the whole county!

And if that's not enough the staff dresses in costumes as well.

"It's actually quite a bit of fun, believe it or not." said Travis Childs, the director of school programs at the center for history in South Bend.

"We have a pretty good time visiting with the people that come through from all over. Tellin' them how old the cabin is, some of the features of the cabin" Childs continued.

But the burn ban put a bit of a damper on the event.

Prohibitting them from lighting fires.
