CHICAGO -- The Democratic Party will have another line up of big-name speakers tonight, including U.S. Transportation Secretary and former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who is set to take the stage alongside Minnesota Governor and Vice-Presidential Nominee Tim Walz.
Buttigieg, or "Mayor Pete" to South Bend voters, has been very active at the DNC talking with delegates and attendees as he walked through the halls.
Earlier today, he spoke directly to the Indiana Delegation at their Delegation Breakfast, including some representatives from his own hometown.
An attendee who's especially looking forward to hearing from Buttigieg tonight hopes that he sticks to his expertise and addresses ways to improve public transit.
"Transportation doesn't get talked about enough," said Mari Halperin. "I live here in Chicago in the urban setting, our mass transit system is critical to work, family, social life, everything that we do and it's woefully underfunded. Maintenance is far behind and every city is like that. That's an important goal and I can't imagine he'll speak without at least mentioning that."
Buttigieg joins Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as some of the names on the speaker list that also appeared on the short list of potential running mates before Vice President Kamala Harris picked Governor Tim Walz.
