Person shot in Elkhart Saturday morning

ELKHART, Ind. – One person was shot on Saturday morning near Eden Street, the Elkhart Police Department reported.

At 12:35 a.m., an officer arrived to the intersection of Hively and Benham Avenues for a report about a shooting with injuries.

Officer noticed the victim had blood running down the right side of the back of his neck.

The victim said he was in the 1200 block of S. Main Street when he left that area and drove down an alleyway.

The victim said that as he turned onto Eden Street, he saw a minivan possibly pull up behind him, reports said.

An unknown suspect got out of the van and allegedly began shooting at him, striking him in the back of the head, according to reports.

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made at this time.

This incident is still being investigated.
